Introduction to the RYA Training Scheme
The Royal Yachting Association of Great Britain (RYA) is the governing body and official representative of pleasure boating in the UK.
Over many years it has developed, from the input of thousands of highly skilled and experienced yachtsmen, into the leading provider of Sail and Power Boat Training Courses in the world. The excellence in standards of training and safety has been recognised by other nations to the extent that The RYA Programme has been adopted by Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, with Canada and the USA recently applying to adopt the Scheme.
The Training Scheme is structured as a progression of learning that caters for the completely inexperienced novice all the way through to professional sailors and instructors.
The Scheme offers many Courses that result in the issue of Course Completion Certificates, Certificates of Competence or in the case of Radio Operation, Licenses. Along with the Commercial Endorsements that are granted to facilitate sailing as a profession, the Scheme forms a Total Training Package.
The Miramar Sailing School is proud to be associated with this organisation as an official RYA Recognised Training Centre.
