DAY SKIPPER
SHORE BASED
40 hours + exam time

Suggested minimum pre-course experience: Some practical experience desirable.
Assumed knowledge: None
Course content: Basic seamanship & introduction to seamanship & navigation.
Ability after course: Suggested minimum pre-course experience: 15 days sea time (2 days as skipper). 300 miles. 8 night hours.

DAY SKIPPER
PRACTICAL
5 days

Suggested minimum pre-course experience: 5 days sea time, 100 miles, 4 night hours.
Assumed knowledge: Navigation to Day Skipper shore based & basic sailing ability.
Course content: Basic pilotage, boat handling & watch organisation.
Ability after course: Skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by day.

COASTAL SKIPPER/ YACHTMASTER OFFSHORE
SHORE BASED
40 hours + exam time

Suggested minimum pre-course experience: Day Skipper shore based course.
Assumed knowledge: Navigation to Day Skipper shore based standard.
Course content: Offshore & coastal navigation, pilotage coastal & offshore passages.
Ability after course: Background knowledge to skipper a yacht on coastal passages by day or night.

COASTAL SKIPPER
PRACTICAL
5 days

Suggested minimum pre-course experience: 15 days sea time (2 days as skipper). 300 miles. 8 night hours.
Assumed knowledge: Navigation to Coastal Skipper shore based standard. Sailing to Day Skipper Practical standard.
Course content: Skippering techniques and passage planning.
Ability after course: Skipper a yacht on coastal passages by day or night.
